LINCOLN – The Board of Trustees for the Nebraska State College System (NSCS) unanimously voted to set tuition and fees for ºÚÁÏ´óʼÇ, Peru, and Wayne State Colleges for the next two years. Full-time students attending the State Colleges will pay an additional $4.50 per credit hour in tuition for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years.

CHADRON – The public is invited to Story Catcher Writing Festival events Tuesday, June 18 and Wednesday, June 19 at Fort Robinson. Writers in Residence Frank X Walker and Marie Matsuki Mockett will give readings Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Bricks Officers Quarters 16A/B. The Wednesday workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. in the same location will feature Mari Sandoz Emerging Writers Jenna Goldsmith and Tor Strand.

LINCOLN – The renovation and addition of ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College’s Math Science building is now a reality thanks to the recently approved budget by Nebraska State Senators and Gov. Pete Ricketts. Included in the state’s budget is the bond repayment for the $28.5 million project at CSC to renovate and expand its existing Math Science facility.

CHADRON – ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College Professor of Biology Dr. Joyce Phillips Hardy was selected by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) to serve in a newly-formed, specialized corps of peer reviewers. Hardy was one of 16 higher education professionals nationwide chosen for the specialized training April 5 in Chicago. HLC accredits colleges and universities in the 19-state North Central region of the U.S. and peer reviewers.

CHADRON – Two ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College students, Jessica Rowshandel of Encino, California, and Isaac Langan of McCook, Nebraska, recently completed research funded by NASA Nebraska Space Grant fellowships. Rowshandel studied analog mapping sites that mimic NASA’s Mars 2020 landing site and Langan researched nitrate, arsenic, and uranium levels in wells near Crawford, Nebraska.

CHADRON – ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College student Gabrielle Brumfield of Pendleton, Indiana, won the Outstanding Undergraduate Research in Biomedical Sciences $500 award at the Nebraska Academy of Sciences meeting in Lincoln April 12. Her abstract and paper were titled “Effects of Curcumin on the NF-KB Pathway in Triple Negative Breast Cancer.”
