CHADRON – An article based on Dr. Britt Helmbrecht’s dissertation, "Predictors of Stress in First-Generation College Students," has been published by the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice. Helmbrecht, an assistant professor in the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation program, earned her Doctor of Health Education degree from A.T. Still University in 2020.

CHADRON – ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College senior Lelisse “Lily” Umeta of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, has earned a full fellowship to the Cancer Research doctoral program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). She said she is grateful for the opportunity especially in a competitive environment where graduate schools receive hundreds of applicants for a handful offers for fellowships.

CHADRON – The ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College Justice Studies program announced the names of incoming Rural Law Opportunities Program (RLOP) students from Nebraska Tuesday. Five students will be incoming freshmen and one is a current student. Project Coordinator Kate Pope said all interviews were conducted via video conference this year.

CHADRON – As a sophomore at ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College in 2005, Craig Kaiser hadn’t yet settled on a major, and wasn’t even sure he would stay in ºÚÁÏ´óʼÇ, when a class with Geoscience Professor Dr. Mike Leite lit the spark that has led him to an entrepreneurial career in the natural resource industry.

CHADRON – The Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center will host a show of about 50 pieces by Rachel Brownlee, from Wednesday to May 21. Most of the items will be charcoal drawings, however, the exhibit also features a few oil paintings, one watercolor, some calligraphy, and a steam punk style leather skirt and corset.
