CHADRON – Speakers for ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College’s first in-person commencement ceremonies since the pandemic will be Dr. Merlin Butler at the 9 a.m. graduate ceremony and Dr. Richard Koza at the 1 p.m. undergraduate exercises. Both events will be in the Chicoine Center. Each guest will be required to have an invitation and wear a face mask. Public seating will be available in the Don Beebe stadium where the festivities will be broadcast via CSC Live on the videoboard.

CHADRON – For the 10th consecutive time, ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College’s student newspaper, The Eagle, was judged Best Overall Newspaper in the Northern Plains Collegiate Media Association’s annual Golden Leaf Awards student media competition April 22 via video conference from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

The Teaching Excellence Award nominees, Eagle Impact Award winners, and Student Organization Advisor Award recipient were also recognized.

CHADRON – The Week of the Young Child (April 10-16) was especially meaningful for ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College students Bailey Brooks of Douglas, Wyoming, and Brianna Williams of Buffalo, South Dakota. Brooks and Williams planned developmentally-appropriate lessons and activities for children at the CSC Child Development Center as part of their practicum, a capstone-like class in the Early Childhood curriculum.

The ceremony celebrates current freshmen nominated by CSC faculty, staff, and student peers for outstanding qualities and achievements during their first year. CHADRON – ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College’s ninth annual The Big Event (TBE) was a success in spite of complications including COVID-19 protocols and weather, according to Graduate Assistant Kaci Waugh. Although jobsite teams that had initially planned to work outside were reassigned due to snow Thursday and Friday, Waugh said about 400 volunteers came ready to work Saturday morning.
