CHADRON – Nebraska Success Made Accessible through Rural Tutoring (SMART) has expanded its impact in the past year, according to Julie Dickerson, Director of Nebraska SMART. Growth milestones include Nebraska SMART broadening its services, tripling its student population base, and receiving positive feedback from students and parents across Nebraska.

CHADRON – The Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program will be reinstated at ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College after a two-year hiatus. In the program, students train to become officers in the U.S. Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserves.

CHADRON – Current Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee for 2024, has chosen Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, a ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College graduate, as her vice president.

CHADRON – Six faculty members have joined ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College. Faculty in the School of Professional Studies and Applied Sciences are Dr. Teri Marrow, Anne Semrau, and Carrie Stiefel. In the School of Liberal Arts, new faculty are Myers Enlow, Sam Herley, and Md Khadimul Islam. There are no new faculty in the School of Mathematics and Science.

CHADRON – Two Wyoming high school students advised by ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College alum Devin Shimic Wells placed second in a national contest in July with a presentation about their food pantry in the Gillette, Wyoming, area. Thunder Basin High School students Paizley Tyrrell and Makiah Johnson qualified for nationals in Seattle with their presentation in Cheyenne at the Wyoming State competition of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).

CHADRON – The exhibition Finding Horizons from the Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will open Friday, Aug. 30, at ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College.

CHADRON — ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College senior Sutton Pohlman of Stanton, Nebraska, will present a poster about his capstone course research at the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) conference in Omaha in October. Assistant Professor Clint Evrard, who will travel with Pohlman, said he is excited to share the research he and Pohlman are conducting.
