CHADRON – ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College has received a $100,000 wellness grant from the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska (BHECN). Associate Professor of Health Physical Education and Recreation Dr. Britt Helmbrecht, author of the grant application, said she plans to use the funds during the next three years to support educational events, guest speakers, contracted services, part-time student employment, and promotional materials.

CHADRON – ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College will host the annual Western District History Day March 3. Coordinator of the event, Project Coordinator Kate Pope, said the schools registered to participate include ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç Middle School, ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç High School, Crawford Elementary School, and Crawford High School.

CHADRON -- ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College is closing its campus Wednesday, Feb. 22 and opening campus Thursday, Feb. 23 at 9:30 a.m. because of winter weather conditions. The residence halls and dining services will remain open. The events scheduled for Wednesday, including the Galaxy Series and the women’s and men’s basketball games, will occur as scheduled. If campus closes or has a late start Thursday, that will be communicated as soon as possible.

CHADRON – ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College Director of Housing and Residence Life Austen Stephens has been appointed as the Interim Dean of Student Affairs, according to an announcement by President Randy Rhine. Stephens fills the position vacated by Dr. Tara Hart. He will also continue in his current role, a position he has had since Sept. 2017.

CHADRON – This spring, ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College Associate Professor Dr. Tawny Tibbits will travel to Belize to conduct research on granite using a portable Xray fluorescence (pXRF) unit. Several weeks later, she and her colleagues who recently co-authored an academic journal article, will present their research at a national conference.
