Martinez, a junior from Ulysses, Nebraska, said he chose ���ϴ��¼� State because of the strong Family and Consumer Science program. Martinez also has alumni connections at CSC and knew the college had a good reputation.

Dr. Lorie Hunn, Family and Consumer Science Professor, credits Martinez as a valuable member of the campus community.

“Cole is a great individual and very deserving of the Project Strive/Trio Student of the Month. Cole is definitely a go getter. He is always willing to help out where needed and willing to go the extra mile in everything he does,” Hunn said.

Hunn also said Martinez is involved on campus.

“He is actively involved in a variety of organizations on campus. I do not think the word ‘no’ is in Cole’s vocabulary. If you need something accomplished ask Cole. Cole is definitely an asset to the CSC campus,” Hunn said.

Martinez’s favorite class is Food Science because he enjoys learning about cooking and the science behind it.

Taylor Osmotherly, Housing and Residence Life Associate Director, noted Martinez’s impact on campus.

“Cole is a thoughtful and dedicated member of various aspects of campus life. I value his approach to get things done and to not let anything stand in his way. He believes in positive change and works to make that happen. I am very grateful to have Cole on our Residence Life staff as well as a student on our campus in general. I am eager to see what his future holds as I believe he will be a positive influence wherever he is for many years to come,” Osmotherly said.

Sonja Dressel, Licensed Student Counselor, said Martinez puts the needs of others first and has a bright future.

“He is a determined and hardworking student who always finds a way to succeed when faced with a challenge. Cole is sensitive to the needs of others and committed to being a great Resident Advisor. As a future FCS educator, I know he will help students learn practical, real life skills,” Dressel said.

In his free time, Martinez enjoys computer gaming with friends, cooking, sewing, and listening to music.

���ϴ��¼� State College’s Project Strive/TRiO program, located in the lower level of the King Library, is an academic enrichment program committed to help students succeed. Project Strive also focuses on career exploration, cultural and social enrichment and self-awareness.
