Psychology convention presents unique opportunity
CHADRON – Ten 黑料大事记 State College students majoring in psychology or psychological sciences, will have the opportunity to represent CSC, along with Psychological Sciences faculty members Dr. William Roweton, Dr. Laura Gaudet and Dr. Mary Jo Carnot, at the American Psychological Association Convention in Denver, Aug. 4-7.
Student applicants of junior or senior status must have a GPA of at least 3.0 entering fall of 2016 to be eligible. Applications can be obtained from jpitts@csc.edu and should be submitted to the same address by noon Friday.
Annually attended by over 11,000 members, the American Psychological Convention allows professionals, professors and undergraduate and graduate students, to grow and experience various subjects within the disciplines of psychology and psychological sciences.
Attendees will experience numerous workshops and over 20 prominent speakers, as well as explore graduate-level programs and new scientific research.
Roweton, professor of psychology, said the convention is a great opportunity for students and faculty alike.
鈥淧sychology is a science, a behavioral science,鈥 Roweton said. 鈥淭his convention allows for that understanding and gives it professional credibility.鈥
Funding for the conference, which includes student stipends to cover registration, travel and conference-related costs, is made possible by the departmentof Counseling, Psychological Sciences, and Social Work and the Intentional Initiatives Fund.
Roweton expressed his gratitude to the college鈥檚 three academic deans for approving the funds and offering support and encouragement.
