Fire ecologist speaking in Student Center

Dr. Stephen Pyne, fire ecologist and faculty member at Arizona State University, will speak at ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College on Wednesday, April 11. The presentation will be in the CSC Student Center at 7 p.m.

 Dr. Chuck Butterfield, chairman of CSC’s Department of Applied Sciences, said Pyne is “the name” in fire, especially as it relates to ponderosa pine forests.

Pyne is working on a project about the effects of fire in the Great Plains. He’s also working on the books “Between Two Fires: A fire History of North America, 1960-2011,” and “To the Last Smoke.”

He also has authored “Fire: A Brief History,” and “America’s Fires. A Historical Context for Policy and Practice.”

The presentation, which is open to the public free of charge, is sponsored by the CSC Ag Club and the rangeland management program.
