ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç bands to combine for concert
The bands in the ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç Public Schools will join with the ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College wind symphony to present a concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11 in Memorial Hall. Approximately 180 musicians will be involved. There will be no admission charge. Joe Rischling is the director of the ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç Schools’ bands and Dr. Adam Lambert directs the ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State ensemble.
The concert will open with the sixth-grade band playing four numbers, including “On Wisconsin,” the official song for the ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç Schools.
The seventh- and eighth-grade bands also will play four selections, including a collage of marches by John Philip Sousa.
The high school band’s numbers will include “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” “Lead On O King Eternal,” “Medal of Valor” and “All Trails Lead West.”
The high school percussion ensemble also will perform one piece under the direction of Aaron Vigen, a senior at ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State.
The college’s wind symphony selections will include theme music from “Harry Potter” and “Star Wars.” Another number will be “Let Us Break Bread Together” featuring John Marquez, a CSC freshman from Alliance, as trumpet soloist.
The concert’s grand finale will be “Military Escort” by Harold Bennett performed by the members of all the groups.
