Career Day is Monday at CSC

Approximately 325 sophomores from nine Panhandle high schools will be at ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College Monday, March 7 for Career Day. Educational Service Unit No. 13 based in Scottsbluff is sponsoring the event with funding coming from a Carl Perkins Grant that ESU 13 received.

The schools which will have students in attendance are Bayard, Bridgeport, ºÚÁÏ´óʼÇ, Crawford, Gordon, Hay Springs, Hemingford, Rushville and Sioux County.

The grant coordinator, John Bays, said the sophomore year is frequently when youths begin making career decisions. Career Day is designed to help them look at various occupations and learn about the requirements needed to enter them.

The Career Day presenters:

Kevin Hoffman of Scottsbluff, U.S. Army; Tracy Shuck and Roy Farrens, Cartwell’s Food Service at CSC; Linda Smith of Hyannis, visual arts; Lori Frederick of ºÚÁÏ´óʼÇ, landscape design; Barbara Beasley and Cassius Cash of Nebraska National Forest Service in ºÚÁÏ´óʼÇ; Dave Young of Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff on technical schools.

Ruthann Knudson and John Campbell of Agate Fossil Beds National Monument; Dr. Joseph Shetler, ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç optomistrist; Amy Hedinger of ºÚÁÏ´óʼÇ, U.S. Forest Service; Dr. Lynn Steadman, ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç veterinarian; Terri Haynes of ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç and Great Lakes Airlines, airline careers; Allison Young of ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State, health professions careers; and Bays, teaching as a profession.
