ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State College will dedicate the new Heritage Trail with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. The ceremony, which is open to the public, will be south of the ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç State Maintenance Services Building.

Blair Brennan, CSC coordinator of physical facilities, said the maintenance crew is busy putting the finishing touches on the mile-long, eight-foot wide recreational trail, which meanders through the Thompson Natural History Preserve southwest of the CSC campus.

The trail is limited to non-motorized vehicles, providing a corridor for hikers, bicyclists and joggers. The college received a $270,569 transportation enhancement grant from the Nebraska Department of Roads for its construction.

In addition to the concrete trail, Brennan said several other features have been added along the path to improve its look and usefulness.
